Can anybody recommend nice places to visit near SF (< 4h drive) with kids of 4 and 7 years?

Muir Woods for redwoods (half an hour north from the city),
Alcatraz (fifteen minutes from the Pier 33 (or something along
those lines)), seeing Sea Lions in the same piers, Santa Cruz (nice
beach, big boardwalk and amusement park -- may or may not be open
though -- one and half hour south from the city).
There's also a sea aquarium in Monterey Bay, never visited
though. Lake Tahoe is a nice wintery destination in the Sierra
Nevada mountains, about four hours drive away. Good place to ski
and gamble (on the border of California and Nevada).
drive down to San Jose.. its a nice little town.. there's a
hi-tech museum geared to kids called TheTech... its great! Maybe
check out around Stanford U as well.. great town with some nice
eating spots!
you could also take a train ride to pretty much anywhere, stroll
through China town, do the obligatory cable car ride, or go for a
harbor tour... loads to do!
Thanks for the tips! In addition to Alcatraz and a few other SF
sites, we plan to visit at least Sierras and the Monterey aquarium.
Probably Napa Valley as well.
David, did you get my email? Be free to sell/give the pic.

Thanks, Petteri. I didn't get your e-mail, but Neil answered my e-mail with your OK. Thank you kindly.
And if you try my e-mail again, jaiku at DNSF dot com, I may have some ideas for San Francisco places for you and your family to visit.
